ABOUT Coach Brian Robertson
Currently in his 30th year of coaching soccer, with certifications from the Canadian, Brazilian and Catalonian Soccer Associations, Brian Robertson is an All-Star and Competitive Soccer coach certified by the Ontario Soccer Association and NCAC to coach players at all levels of the game.
He is presently leading competitive girl’s soccer teams in the 9-12-year age division and says that his main mission at this stage of his life is training female athletes to reach their potential and championing the development of the girls/women’s game.
“My central mission revolves around empowering and developing female soccer players. I train them to think, especially about the technical game, and play with grit and an indomitable spirit, but also with humility and gratitude for the gift of sport,” explains Brian. “I am passionate about sending these young women out into the world as confident, competent, brave and compassionate individuals, who will lead not just as athletes, but as fully developed, ethical human beings.”
As an All-Star and Competitive coach, Brian has won over 30 tournaments, including League Cup and League Championship titles. He won the Ontario Cup with Dixie SC and earned Provincial Gold with the U/18 team. At the Mississauga Falcons SC, he developed and led three female teams to the highest level of provincial play (Ontario Youth Soccer League) with numerous tournament wins (League Cup, League Championships, including two finalist appearances in the Provincial Indoor Cup).
Brian is also experienced in bringing travelling teams to prestigious showcases including the NEWSS, Score at the Shore, and Phoenix President’s Cup. Many of his players have gone on to play at the collegiate level, including at Mt. Holyoke College in Massachusetts, McMaster University, Brock University, Laurentien University, and more.
At the management level, Brian has served as the Director of Training, Director of Communications, and Director of Operations for local soccer clubs.He has created competitive programs for youth, initiated grass-roots training programs for local coaches and has advanced training in Concussion Protocol, Sports taping and Injury Prevention, Sportsmanship Protocol, including training athletes how to make ethical
decisions on the field, and Soccer for Life programs.
At the international level, Brian has worked with the Porto Allegre Soccer Club accessing their youth development program, as well as with the Catalonian and Brazilian Soccer Associations. Currently, he is travelling with Game On Camps as its Global Soccer Coach and working to develop underprivileged players in Ukraine and India.
When it comes to his contribution to the world, soccer has been his medium, but the success and happinessof his players is his message.
